How to break bad habits ' porn '.

I usually play with my friends that I have a habit of "house porn" I love catching those DIY shows on TV and I swoon over before and after home makeover show.

I've even been known to get your copy of sneaky home remodeling magazine when they checkout Home Depot unit.

But it never occurred to me that I may have similar information until I read a blog by Andre Kibbe tools for thinking about curbing porn information.

Andre wrote

"I like and that is a problem — I can consume indefinitely, it is not a case of information overload, but of porn: read gratuitous to alleviate anxiety or boredom instead enable changes, positive or problem solving."

Uh oh, that sounds blanket much like me

As a journalist I've been training dig for information to support my article and keeps track of current events, but there are times that I have to admit that when I announce overboard — a dozen bookmarks Web sites, 5. Download the report and eight telephone interviews to write 800-word story simply talking about the person.

RSS feeds and I'm out of control, why do I think I have time to read the newspaper, the four main and five dozen blogs every day, with six or seven newsletters. I don't know.

And know that my postman joke with me about the volume of a magazine that I subscribed. At last count it as three weeklies and monthlies 11 Tips (Yes I secret he good holidays.)

So I read with interest about your experience with Andre and food low, how to find his "batching", information stored in the Andre decided to make his Sunday not to take a day — a book on his reads his nonfiction books. A copy of one of the weekly news magazine, and bookmark any online article. He has a book in the previous week.

Well, it is appropriate, but for some … For me, not as a blogger and journalist I think download news one time per week won't let me enough to read and research and batching all mine. In one day sounds like textbooks made my head explode.

Conversely, it is a real eye-opener to see much gratuitous data flows into my life on a daily basis, so I did a bit of a different method.

For the first time. I use Google Reader features of folders to organize your RSS feeds into three categories: jobs, career & fun. In the past is for determining each day's I'm a journalist and blogger, two is for an overview article about journalism. Writing, editing, and other third parties that are clearly good — Benefits immediately? I don't get sidetracked reading blog working with noticed blog "fun" contiguous and think "Oh I just checked. The Union quickly. Can I save something mindless for when I actually have time to kill second? I deleted three of my feeds four newspapers Don't really want to read the story of the same news editions, pick my favorite and decided to read it for 15 minutes thing in the morning to cut into my newsletter in half and now. Reserve Friday night for skimming them for my home magazine. I've made off-limits during working hours. Now they are on the desk and nightstand coffee instead of my my desk.

They did not change much, but I certainly can see the changes in the sense of overload of data less, and my focus. I am because I'm not constantly been sidetracked doyoroi enticing in my Inbox and I was able to refine more of what I want, and by my efforts in finite time spans concentrating instead will try to keep up in dribs and drabs.
